The book 'My Story' had an really great impact on me. This was a book written by Dave Pelzer about his life from childhood till adulthood and how much he had suffered. This book is a compilation of three stories 'A Child Called It', 'The Lost Boy' and 'A Man Named Dave'. The story tells us how he has suffered in his mother's hand as he was burnt and trapped in the bathroom with ammonia and Clorox. His mother starved him and beat him and made him the slave of the family. He was made to sleep in the garage where he was always freezing. His father and brothers couldn't do much to help him out of his predicament. His sufferings only ended when the school nurses took action and brought him away from his mother. He then lived in fosters home where he changed parents every now and then. He struggled but remained resilient and soon he was able to join the Airforce and became successful with a wife and son.
This story has told me that if we could persevere through all the obstacles we could be successful as long as we don't give up. the story had a great impact on my life as I now became much more resilient and did not give up so easily.
